Complete Decongestive Therapy CDP

CDT is the recognised standard of treatment for lymphoedema.

What are the component parts of CDT?
Advanced manual lymph drainage massage, multi-layer compression bandaging, exercise, skin and nail care, instruction in self-management.

Depending on its presentation or staging all or some of the components of CDT will be necessary to treat lymphoedema successfully.

Who can treat Lymphoedema?

A Certified Lymphoedema Therapist (MLD UK Registered) or  Lymphoedema Nurse  who are able to confirm you diagnosis, provide treatment as well as on-going information and support . CLTs work closely with a range of other health care professionals.
During a first appointment a full health history is taken and treatment plan discussed and agreed with you.

Complete Decongestive Therapy CDT – What is it?

CDT is the recognised treatment for Lymphoedema. The various components of CDT are:

  • Advanced manual lymph drainage massage, compression bandaging, exercise, skin and nail care, instruction in self -management
  • Depending on presentation, some or all of the components of CDT will be necessary to treat successfully.

What to expect at the outset?
  • On diagnosis, you will be referred to a Lymphoedema Therapist for treatment.
  • During a first appointment a comprehensive health history is taken.
  • An appropriate treatment plan will be discussed with you.

Please allow 90 minutes and approximately 60 minutes for follow up sessions.
