About me | Susan Fishwick
My interest in complementary therapy began in the 1990’s. Having trained at a number of reputable colleges and establishments over the years; in Exeter, London, Bath, Brighton and Oxford. I qualified as a Certified Lymphoedema Therapist CLT, training at the world-renowned Foeldi Clinic of Lymphology in Hinterzaarten, Germany. (Klose Training).
It was whilst working at the FORCE Cancer Support and Information Centre in Exeter (over 10 years in a variety of roles including therapist), that I became interested in Lymphoedema and the complex challenges those with it faced.
Based on latest international research studies the demand for qualified CLT therapists is likely to increase with the effects of climate change having a direct impact on rising cases of Lymphoedema globally!
Surgical procedures are evolving all the time in order to protect lymphatic vessels and nodes and reduce the risk of developing Lymphoedema. Post –operative MLD by suitably qualified therapists is increasingly recommended while pre-operative Hivamat deep oscillation treatment is also considered beneficial for patients by a number of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgeon’s ahead of liposuction for example.
In my role as a Certified Lymphoedema Therapist I provide one to one education, support and treatments to a wide range of patients affected by lymphatic disorders.
Away from work we as a family love to be active outdoors. Having taken up year round sea swimming it’s always nice to be around water, either in it or on it and a perfect day would round off meeting up with family and friends.
